Film and Television have always been Dean Kirkland’s ultimate dream career. After his time serving in the United States Air Force, he began his artistic career as a film actor in the mid-1980’s. He then realized that his first love was actually behind the camera, so in 1993 Dean made the switch to become a director and went on to create many movies and shorts. For the last twenty years, he has been a part of several successful projects in Orange County. His clients are diverse, ranging from The Home Depot and Affluent Golfer Magazine to Lamborghini and Antonio Tetro-luxury designer watches.
In addition to commercials, Dean has made a name for himself in the world of photography; he has photographed A-list entertainment and sports personalities including the late Dennis Hopper, Clint Eastwood, Troy Aikman, and Martin Sheen.
Dean is also known for his innovative and unique style of automotive photography. Cars have always been a major part of his life, and that is probably why he has found himself gravitating towards the automotive arena. Telling stories through documentaries offered Dean the opportunity to photograph, interview and film with some of the greatest cars and drivers in history. Among them are Parnelli Jones, Al Unser, Bobby Unser, Mario Andretti and Sir Stirling Moss. Being able to capture and preserve automotive history in his own unique style and aesthetic vision is the most rewarding part of his profession. Today he is regarded by many as a distinguished car photographer, shooting classic cars for high-profile collectors and automobile companies.
